It seems

Thank you for all the feedback. It was nice to here the thoughts behind postcards versus cards. I am in the process of looking at different options and formats to have these printed as cards. The postcards will be able online and at shows until I run out. I'll also be including them in all the orders that I receive online. As for winners, Crystal and Julie, send me an email with your address and I'll send you postcards and magnets.

Steph and I finally (it's my fault!) posted over at Common Places Different Spaces. Our theme was transportation. I chose to photograph the streetcar at night and cross process the film. I really like the colors I was able to get with the streaking lights.

squirrel anyone?

Thank you for all the feedback you guys have left me so far regarding my monthly giveaway. It's been insightful, much more so than me sitting and talking to myself. I'll take comments till this Sunday, then I'll pull my two winners on Monday.
This is an image I did on commission for a friend who wanted to give his girlfriend a special birthday present. We used her squirrel statues (that he had to sneak out of the yard with out her knowing!) and created a little scene. I was happy to hear that the gift was a big hit and it is now hanging in their living room.

Wednesday already...

It has been a busy week, I can't believe it is already Wednesday. As promised I have a giveaway to announce. The postcards pictured below are from my Words Polaroid set. After some consideration between creating cards or postcards, I ended up with 4.25"x4.25" postcards. I only had a small batch printed, to test the waters. What do you think, cards or postcards? Leave me a comment about your thoughts and I'll choose 2 people randomly & send each of them a pack of postcards and magnet set.

post 200...who knew?

First, thank you for all the lovely emails, comments, convos and posts I've received. It is so nice to hear that my work is loved and appreciated and that many of you find that it shares a voice with the way you see the world. Among the lovely blog posts, I want to thank Apartment Therapy for featuring me yesterday. I'm trying to keep up with conversations and etsy updating that this blog has produced, so bear with me : )

I'm spending today getting ready for the Alberta Art Hop tomorrow. If you're in Portland, please stop by, it should be beautiful weather and a fun event. I have some new prints that I will post online soon, some new postcards (that I'm wondering if they would be better as cards? You'll let me know, right?) and some bigger box sizes. Sunday I have a lovely portrait session with two girls that I can't wait to photograph.

These are a few of my remaining holga pictures from LA. New polaroids to be posted next week....and a giveaway, next week, I promise!

sharing photos

Here are a few images more images from my trip to LA. I am really starting to love that aqua & yellow hue these images have. I finally feel like these pictures are what I'm trying to accomplish with my Holga and Diana photography. I'm not sure what place they have in my work, but they tend to speak of those small, quiet moments that we witness and remember vividly when looking at the image.
Going through rolls like this make me want to go out and photograph non stop.

I love those days. I'll have more to photos to share tomorrow and a giveaway to announce.

Hi

California Palms, Holga cross processed

I opted to get my two rolls of holga film that I shot in California cross processed. I still haven't decided how I feel about the over all look. But I do love the surprise that I get once I've scanned the images in and see the colors that produces. They truly remind me of how California feels to me, kind of crazy, but still alluring.

Here are a few pictures of my booth from Unique LA. I was very happy with the overall booth, but really wished I had fixed that one tablecloth before setting everything up. The flags on the top of the booth were part of a fun sewing project that I improvised. I hope to put a tutorial up this month to share how to make one.

monday already?

This weekend seemed to slip by. Saturday was lovely weather, a long run and some good beer. Sunday was Crafty Wonderland and some relaxation. Crafty was great, I hadn't done it in about a year and forgot how packed it can get (and how small a 4'x4' space is).

I received some questions regarding my pictures from the previous post. The first image was taken on Mississippi one rainy Saturday and the second image is a really cool and big space on NW 10th and Northrup that has remained empty since it was built. I love the lights they put up and keep meaning to go back when it is dark out. Maybe tonight.....

I have pictures from LA to share, but haven't had a chance to edit or scan all of them yet. Here are a couple off my digital.... the post was feeling sparse. I have a few lingering projects I'm trying to finish up tonight so I can begin a much needed update.

Catch up

I didn't end up setting up for First Thursday yesterday. The weather was so crazy through out the day; rain, sun, rain, hail, sun, rain...... I have never sold my work outdoors and the idea of doing so with the chance of rain made me nervous.
I'd like to sit there, holga

Today I'm playing catch up, scanning, editing, printing, scanning, shipping, emailing, more scanning... I need to start sharing more of my digital work.
Balls in the air, holga

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I will have lots of LA pictures to share and a new giveaway for the the month of May next week.

Back and ready to attack

Hello! I'm back from LA and missing that really warm sun. I love Portland, love, love, love Portland, but that sun felt so good. I did have a woman say to me "Just inhale our smog for a week, feel like you've aged 10 years and then you'll be running home to the rain." Oh well, no place can be perfect.

Unique LA was great. There were so many people there and so many great things to see. I also met and ran into a few Portland people including Rachel Austin, Amy Olson Jewelry, Two Guitars, Ashton Photography + Design, and B Hive Designs. And some non-Portland people who I love and admire including, Verre NewYork, Tracey Tanner, Sharon Montrose and Creative Thursday. Wow.... that's a list, but I promise that you'd be happy if you explored all those links.

This week I'm finishing up with First Thursday on NW 13th Street in Portland and Crafty Wonderland on Sunday at the Doug Fir Lounge. I'll be spending the next couple of days restocking and working on some new prints.
