at a snails pace

This is what I saw this morning as I walked to the building next door to mine for a lazy breakfast. There were 2 little snails inching their way across the sidewalk. We've never seen snails around Portland, so I ran upstairs grabbed my camera and my man to share this little finding. We couldn't stop laughing as we watched them, because at the bottom of our building is a french restaurant and these guys looked like what we've seen on other peoples' plates at this restaurant. My guess is some employee decided to free them before they became dinner.

I love snails... to look at not eat. Glad you ran back and got your camera.
We have a lot around here, they come out at night and slide around.

Delurking to leave a geeky comment - technically the brown garden snail (as pictured) is a non-native species from, you guessed it, Europe and originally imported as an escargot source. They do much better in California than here in Oregon but they can be found through out the Portland area...
